The West Coast of Tasmania is fast becoming a hot destination for jobs and tourism, and a place where the community want to live, work and raise a family, thanks to investments made by the Rockliff Liberal Government to boost our regions.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, said that Rosebery is a great example of a small town with big potential.
“The MMG and Venture Minerals mines located just outside of Rosebery provide incredible job opportunities to our west coast community, and the growing number of world-renowned mountain bike trails are attracting more and more tourists to the region,” Minister Ellis said.
“Recognising this growth and potential, our Government is investing $1 million to upgrade the Rosebery Police Station to best serve the local community.
“The current station was built in 1970 and requires attention to become a modern workplace that the police officers and community of Rosebery deserve.
“The project is one of many in Tasmania employing and supporting locals, with “m | arkitecture” (a local Devonport based consultancy) being appointed to the project in August 2022.
“This project forms part of our $60 million investment into upgrading police stations around Tasmania, including in New Norfolk, Longford, Sorell, St Helens, Bridgewater, and the Tasmania Police Academy.”
A Request for Tender has been released for the Rosebery Police Station seeking the demolition works for part of the current 1970s station, and the redesign of the remaining interior spaces so that the facilities are fit for purpose and ready to support the local police.
