Football fans’ hearts are thumping as today marks 100 days to go until the start of the world’s biggest female sporting event to be held in Australia and New Zealand – the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
To celebrate, Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman today led Western Australia’s first performance of the UNITY BEAT – a heart-thumping, synchronised, unifying chant that will be performed at every match during the international tournament.
The UNITY BEAT was launched across Australia and New Zealand today, with tens of thousands of voices uniting as one to celebrate women’s football.
In Perth, a crowd of industry officials, local players and fans gathered at Elizabeth Quay to count down the days until the first match between China and Denmark gets underway at Perth Rectangular Stadium.
Fans also had the chance to take once-in-a-lifetime selfies with an official match ball.
A big line up of events and exciting community activations will take place between now and the tournament, with the Perth City, Optus Stadium and RAC Arena lighting up in pink tonight to celebrate the 100 Days milestone.
Locals and visitors alike can expect to hear the UNITY BEAT echo from the Swan River to the Darling Scarp, and back out to the Indian Ocean as excitement builds ahead of the world-class international sporting action taking place here in Perth/Boorloo.
