This is my first column in The Carisbrook Mercury as the newly elected Mayor of the Central Goldfields Shire. A role I am honoured and excited to be undertaking.
As a way of introduction, over the next 12 months I look forward to continuing to work hard on behalf of our community and continuing our advocacy for our Shire, particularly focusing on the delivery of Council’s Priority Projects, the restoration of the Maryborough Town Hall, the restoration and revitalisation of the Bristol Hill memorial tower and precinct to be a tourist attraction to be proud of.
As the end of the year approaches, so too does the fire season. To help residents prepare Council is offering free green waste disposal from now to Sunday 18 December.
You can drop off your waste at one of our Transfer Stations, including right here in Carisbrook.
In some other Carisbrook news, Council is planning for the construction of a series of new footpaths across the Shire including in town in Urquhart Street from McLachlan Street to McNeill Street.
It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas in the Central Goldfields, including in Carisbrook, with the installation of our wonderful decorations which add a touch of festive cheer to our streets.
With Christmas shopping now on everyone’s mind it’s important to remember to support our local retail and hospitality businesses when doing your shopping this year.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe festive season and a wonderful New Year.
