15 of best celebrations for Queensland Day 2022

Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics Infrastructure The Honourable Dr Steven Miles

The Palaszczuk Government is inviting all Queenslanders to Queensland’s 163rd birthday, announcing funding for 15 community-led celebrations.

Marking Queensland’s official separation from New South Wales as an independent colony in 1859, Acting Premier Steven Miles said Queensland Day (6 June) is an opportunity for all Queenslanders to commemorate and share the many compelling stories of our state.

“Each year, on and around 6 June, Queenslanders come together in a variety of ways to celebrate Queensland’s unique history, culture, industry and achievements,” the Acting Premier said.

“In 2022, the Queensland Government will once again be encouraging participation in Queensland Day through a number of inclusive community celebrations, supported by the Queensland Day Sponsorship Program.

“From sporting competitions and family fun days, to multicultural festivals, baking competitions and colourful parades, our Queensland Day events reflect the diverse and active interests of Queenslanders.

“This June, I’m excited for Queenslanders of all ages − from all backgrounds and communities − to show up and share their love of our brilliant, resilient state.”

Queensland Day events will be hosted across Queensland between 4 and 12 June 2022.
