Griffith City Council has released its 2019/20 Draft Operational Plan (Budget), with the community now invited to provide feedback.
Residents are urged to attend a community meeting on Thursday, 9 May 2019, 5.30pm at Griffith City Library to find out what important services and infrastructure projects Council will undertake over the course of the financial year.
Council’s Draft four-year Delivery Program and Operational Plan 2019/2020 is now on public exhibition. The document outlines the proposed projects, programs and activities for 2019/2020. It also includes information about rates, fees and charges, estimated income and expenditure and the capital works program for 2019/2020.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi, said the community meeting is a chance for residents to have their say on the Draft Plan.
“The community meeting is a great way to engage with our residents face-to-face, for the community to understand why particular projects have been prioritised over others, and to talk to them about the future direction and priorities of Council,” Cr Dal Broi said.
“Listening to our community and hearing feedback directly allows us to make sure we’re servicing the right areas and making the right decisions for our community.
“I encourage people to come along to the meeting, but if you can’t make it, you can go online to Council’s website or hard copies can be viewed at Council’s Administration Building or at the Library.”
The 2019/2020 Draft Operational Plan highlights a number of major projects such as:
• Regional Sports Precinct (including the 50m Pool and Westend Oval)
• Memorial Park improvements (toilet refurbishment and construction of community stage)
• Yambil Street upgrade (part of the overall CBD project)
• Continuation of Griffith Southern Industrial Link (GSIL)
• Community Gardens construction of community stage
• New toilet block at City Park
• Sealing of Boorga Road and part of Dickie Road
• Griffith Youth and Community Centre
• Amenities Upgrade – Jubilee Park
Anyone wishing to make comment on the Draft Operational Plan can do so in writing addressed to the General Manager, Griffith City Council. Comments or submissions will be received up to 4pm, Friday 24 May 2019.
