The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research has been endorsed by Liverpool City Councillors as the recipient organisation of funds that will be raised at Council’s 2019 Charity Ball.
“The Ingham Institute is a world-class health institution doing extraordinary things that benefit the people of South West Sydney,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“Along with Liverpool Hospital and the city’s three universities, they form a key part of the Liverpool Innovation Precinct, which provides outstanding medical services and employs thousands of people.
“Undertaking research, providing access to hundreds of clinical trials to improve health treatments and nurturing the passions of local high school students interested in science and health are just some of the Ingham Institute’s valuable initiatives.
“We are delighted to support their work as the recipient of funds raised at the 2019 Liverpool City Council Charity Ball on 21 September.”
Ingham Institute CEO Darryl Harkness said funds raised would support their student programs.
“We are humbled to have been chosen as the fundraising recipient of the 2019 Liverpool City Council Charity Ball.”
“Funds raised will go towards our student-focused programs, which include enhancing our work experience program to give local high school students interested in health and science the opportunity to gain hands-on medical research experience.”
Council is working through early plans for the 2019 Liverpool City Council Charity Ball and will soon release details for ticket purchases.
“Last year Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections received $46,000 from Charity Ball proceeds, allowing them to purchase a vehicle to support their work for disadvantaged people, most of them women,” Mayor Waller said.
“As one of South West Sydney’s premier black-tie events, the evening combines fine dining with live entertainment, dancing and fundraising fun, serving as a wonderful opportunity to network with like-minded locals.
“Businesses from Liverpool and beyond are invited to support Council in delivering a fantastic Charity Ball experience while ultimately raising funds to assist the Ingham Institute in their incredible work.”
