2019 Warrnambool Business Trends Survey now open

The Warrnambool Business Trends survey is now open, with all businesses encouraged to take part.

First held in 2011, the survey records business trends, confidence and plans for growth across the city’s commercial and industrial sectors.

Deakin University Senior Lecturer, Researcher and Author Dr Scott Salzman urged all businesses to put 10 minutes aside to fill out the survey.

“The more businesses that complete the survey, the greater the likelihood that the results will be an accurate representation of what’s going on in Warrnambool,” he said.

“The data gives us a local perspective which we can relate to what’s going on nationally.

“It’s very important to understand the perspective of your business community currently and then be able to relate that back historically to see how it fluctuates over time.

“We see that overall, we are performing similarly, some times better and sometimes a little worse when compared with our metropolitan counterparts. Certainly we have seen a happier business community at times than you would see in metro areas.”

Dr Salzman said that the Warrnambool survey was building up a significant amount of historical data, with other cities beginning to follow Warrnambool’s lead.

“It has been so successful that the model of this survey has been picked up by places like Hobsons Bay, Surf Coast, Wyndham City, the City of Whitehorse and Bendigo,” he said.

The Warrnambool Business Trends Survey is a partnership between Deakin University, the Warrnambool City Council and South West Credit.
