Bass Coast Shire Council has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Bass Coast Business Awards.
The Awards have been running since 2008 and have become a key feature on Council’s annual business calendar.
Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari, said that the decision is in line with the cancellation or postponement of other key Awards programs across the state.
“While the need to celebrate the exceptional businesses that operate in Bass Coast has not diminished, the health and safety of our community is of the utmost importance,” Cr Tessari said.
“The uncertain operating environment many businesses are currently in, means the focus of business has changed.
“So, we will continue to develop initiatives to support our local businesses in these challenging circumstances,” Cr Tessari concluded.
In place of the Awards, Council’s Business Support Team will develop a program of business events, training and marketing opportunities to help businesses get back on track following the Coronavirus pandemic.
This program will be launched later in the year.
