Cricket Victoria has confirmed its Female Emerging Performance squad for the 2022-23 season.
The Emerging Performance Squad provides a pathway from Premier Cricket to the State squad through additional playing and training opportunities.
The squad has been selected from players who have shown strong performances in Victorian Premier Cricket as well as Victorian Women’s squad exhibition matches or young players who have performed well in the U19 Emerging Players Program and CA ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Championships.
The squad includes former state contracted players Anna Lanning and Lara Shannon, while Georgia Gall has previously been contracted with the Melbourne Stars.
Madison Albers (Carlton), Erika Quinn (Melbourne) & Holly Spencer (Box Hill) have again been selected after being involved in the program last season.
The program offers enhanced training opportunities throughout the pre-season and further match opportunities with and against the Victorian Women’s squad over the summer months.
“We’re excited to see the talent coming through and pleased to reward those selected in this squad,” Cricket Victoria’s Head of Talent Development Dean Russ said.
“This program will ensure players are well prepared for the start of the Premier Cricket season and provide an insight to cricket at the elite level to assist in their development.
“The goal is to provide each player with an experience that will add value to their preparation for the 2022-23 season.”
The program will be overseen by Cricket Victoria High Performance coaching staff Guy McKenna and Andy Christie whilst providing strong links to the Victorian Women’s squad through involvement of senior Victorian coaching staff Clint McKay, Jarrad Loughman, Dulip Samaraweera & Craig Howard.
