20221-11-09 Covid Update: Lockout to end for Darwin. One new positive case recorded

Greater Darwin will exit lockout at 11:59pm tonight. From this time, there will be no restrictions on the reasons to leave home for people who are vaccinated and unvaccinated. A mask mandate will remain in place in Greater Darwin and Katherine regions until 5pm on Friday 12 November 2021. Face masks must be worn outside of the home when you are unable to maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres. You do not have to wear a mask while exercising or playing sport.

One new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Northern Territory, with the cluster now at four cases. The positive case is a 48 year old male, who is a household contact of cases one and two. The man had previously returned two negative tests but became positive last night. The man has been in quarantine at the Centre for ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Resilience for his entire infectious period and poses no risk to the community. He is double vaccinated and is experiencing mild, flu-like symptoms.

Public exposure sites have been updated and some locations reclassified. The Humpty Doo Hotel inside bar area remains a close contact public exposure site for 2 November 2021 between 7.15pm and 7.30pm. It is important all people in the NT to regularly check the COVID-19 website to review the list of .

NT Health contact tracers have identified no new close contacts. 914 casual contacts have been identified and the vast majority of these close contacts have returned a negative test, with some further results expected today. Significant testing has been undertaken with 2387 COVID-19 tests completed across the NT in the past 24 hours, with all except the latest positive case returning negative results.

It is critical that anyone who has symptoms gets tested for COVID-19 so we can ensure any spread of COVID-19 in the NT has been contained.

Daily wastewater testing in Greater Darwin up until 7 November 2021 has returned negative results.

The Marrara Drive-Through Testing Site will remain open until 4pm today. Bookings are preferred.

There has been a surge in demand for the COVID-19 vaccine with 1984 people getting the jab at NT Vaccination Centres yesterday, while 3807 bookings were made between 10pm on 7 November and 10pm on 8 November.

A total of 7698 doses of the vaccine were administered across the NT between 5-7 November 2021. This has seen an increase in our vaccination rate with 91% of Territorians having had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 78% are fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 mask mandate Greater Darwin & Katherine

If you are in Greater Darwin or Katherine, a mask mandate will be in place until 5:00pm on Friday 12 November.

These restrictions include:

· Face masks must be worn outside of the home when you are unable to maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres – this includes at places like the supermarket, shops, the hairdresser and on public transport. Workers who come into close contact with patrons, or who work in crowded environments will need to wear a mask. You do not have to wear a mask while exercising or playing sport.

· Patrons at restaurants, cafes and pubs must wear a mask unless eating or drinking. Dance floors can open but masks must be worn.

· Travel will be permitted across the Territory but restrictions continue to apply and follow you, if you travel outside the lockout area.
