The Northern Territory is today reporting three deaths of people with COVID-19.
A female in her 70s, who had underlying health conditions, passed away at Alice Springs Hospital.
A male in his 60s from a remote community in the East Arnhem region, who had underlying health conditions.
A female in her 60s from Darwin, who had underlying health conditions, passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital.
There have now been 26 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic.
There were 559 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 8pm on 1 March 2022. Of these, 495 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
There were 297 cases recorded in the Top End region, 87 in Central Australia, 38 in East Arnhem, 45 in the Big Rivers region, 16 in the Barkly region and 76 are under investigation.
There are currently 48 patients in hospital, with 10 patients requiring oxygen. There are two patients in ICU.
The number of active cases in the NT is 3,833.
Public health measures
To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT:
- A Territory-wide indoor mask mandate is in place until Monday 7 March 2020
- An indoor mask mandate will remain for high-risk settings and the Big Rivers region
- It is highly recommended that all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask outdoors when physical distancing cannot be applied
- The Territory Vaccine Pass
