Bega Valley Shire Council, in partnership with Mumbulla Community Foundation, is offering Further Education Scholarships to recognise and support local students undertaking further education in the Bega Valley.
Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Iliada Bolton said the scholarship program supports young people seeking professional qualifications and careers.
“There are 10 scholarships of up to $1,000 each on offer for students aged between 17 and 26 years,” Ms Bolton said.
“We want to encourage students to consider local further education options, whether it be university or vocational study, instead of thinking they have to leave the shire to reach their educational goals.”
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must:
- live in the Bega Valley
- be enrolled in full or part-time study, including online study with a university, TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
- be aged between 17 and 26 years (excluding high school students)
- not be in receipt of any other scholarship
- identify how the funding will be of use
- describe key motivating factors and goals for undertaking study
- identify how the scholarship will break down barriers to achieving educational goals.
Previous scholarship recipients completed diverse courses such as Bachelors of Arts and Nursing (University of Wollongong Bega Campus) and Certificate III Pathway to Further Study (TAFE Illawarra Bega Campus).
Applications close on Monday 20 February 2023.
