Community groups throughout Campaspe shire have coordinated a diverse array of events for Australia Day this year.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos praised their efforts and highlighted the commendable organisation by these community groups.
“The dedication of clubs and committees within our region underscores the vibrant community spirit across the shire.
“The Australia Day Awards will be a highlight at these events, accompanied by traditional ceremonies like flag raising and insightful presentations from a range of guest speakers such as past Australian Day award recipients, business leaders, community workers, and diverse individuals from various backgrounds,” said Mayor Amos.
In addition to traditional activities like flag-raising and Australia Day Award presentations, the day will feature a range of events including BBQ breakfasts, guest speakers, yabby races, kids’ fishing competitions, games, and music.
This year Council will hold its Australian Citizenship Ceremony as a standalone event on the eve of Australia Day in Echuca.
“Holding the Citizenship Ceremony the night prior means that the new citizens from across the shire are able to attend and enjoy their local Australia Day events the following day.
“The Council’s Australian Citizenship Ceremony is being held separately to the community-run Australia Day events so the focus of the ceremony is on the welcoming these new Australians.” Mayor Amos said.
