In 2024, 254 WA volunteering organisations will share in over $335,000 through Volunteering WA’s ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week Grants to celebrate and recognise their volunteers throughout the week.
A record number of organisations were granted funds this year due to an increased 2024 program, thanks to Volunteering WA’s major supporter, Lotterywest. Lotterywest is supporting Volunteering WA with a $425,000 grant towards the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week Grants Program ($395,000), along with support towards WA Volunteer of the Year Awards celebrations ($30,000). Together, we are pleased to build a better WA.
runs from Monday 20 to Sunday 26 May 2024 and is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s incredible volunteers.
This year’s span all the way from Wellstead to Derby, ensuring thousands of dedicated volunteers across the state are being recognised for their contributions.
This year, the volunteer celebrations include:
- Lighting up City of Bunbury Landmarks in thematic colours
- A community clean up and BBQ in Newman
- Dinner and lawn bowls in Onslow
- A mosaic workshop in Tom Price
- A ‘returning the favour with flavour’ breakfast in the Wheatbelt
³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering with thousands of events and activities held across the country.
Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams said the funding to recognise volunteering was vital.
“These volunteer recognition grants will help volunteering organisations say ‘thank you’ to those Western Australians who give so much for the betterment of our communities. The investment we put into volunteering now will pay dividends in the future. We thank the State Government and Lotterywest for their support in celebrating the contribution of WA’s volunteers,” said Williams.
Lotterywest and Healthway Acting CEO Jeremy Hubble said Lotterywest’s grant to Volunteering WA enables the organisation fund volunteer groups to participate in ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week.
“Volunteers across WA share their precious time to better our communities, and this $425,000 Lotterywest grant is a chance to acknowledge the selfless efforts of those who volunteer across thousands of community groups and not for profit organisations,” Mr Hubble said.
“These events will bring people and organisations together to strengthen, build and promote the State’s volunteering sector.”
