Organisations and local governments across metropolitan Perth and regional WA have again joined together in a stunning display of unity through the annual Reconciliation Week Street Banners Project.
As part of this year’s exciting and powerful program for ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Reconciliation Week (NRW), the Street Banners Project provides an opportunity for an emerging Aboriginal artist to have their artwork featured on banners and digital signs right across the State.
The banners are sponsored by local businesses and agencies wanting to actively show their support for reconciliation.
³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June each year, with the dates commemorating the successful 1967 referendum (27 May) and the Mabo decision (3 June). The theme this year is “Now More Than Ever”.
This year the banners feature the striking artwork Mina Mina from emerging Aboriginal artist Renita Brown Nungurray.
This work documents a significant women’s Dreaming site, the story of which was passed down to her through her Warlpiri matriarchal line.
