2025 Citizen Of Year Award Nominations Now Open

Nominations for the 2025 City of Mount Gambier Citizen of the Year Awards are now open. The awards provide an opportunity to recognise individuals and groups who have made a positive contribution during the current year, or those who have given outstanding service over several years.

City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin is calling on residents to shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond for the Mount Gambier community.

“One of the greatest privileges I have as Mayor is hearing the stories and celebrating the achievements of locals who are doing wonderful, selfless things for the benefit of our community so if you know an individual, organisation, group, or event that has made an impactful contribution this is your chance to show them how valued they are by nominating them for the 2025 Citizen of the Year Awards,” Mayor Martin said.

Eligible nominees for the Citizen of the Year Awards may contribute through various services, including but not limited to education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary work, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that promotes the well-being and advancement of the community.

Locals can be nominated across five categories including:

  • Young Citizen of the Year (persons under 30 years of age on 26 January 2025),
  • Citizen of the Year (persons 30 years of age or older on 26 January 2025),
  • Senior Citizen of the Year (persons 55 years of age or older on 26 January 2025),
  • Community Event of the Year, for events staged during 2024, and
  • Active Citizenship, delivery of outstanding work or for an event or cause staged during 2024.

The awards will be presented to the recipients at the City of Mount Gambier Australia Day Breakfast and Citizen of the Year Awards event on Sunday 26 January 2025.
