- Community organisations and local governments to be supported through the 2025 Youth Engagement Grants Program
- Thirty recipients to receive a share of nearly $220,000 to support initiatives to empower and engage young people
- Programs and activities for young people aged 10 to 25 will take place across Western Australia
Thirty community organisations and local governments across Western Australia will receive a share of nearly $220,000 in funding through the 2025 Youth Engagement Grants Program.
Youth Minister Hannah Beazley today announced the funding which will support a diverse range of events, workshops and programs to engage young people aged 10 to 25 across WA.
Some of the organisations set to benefit from funding include:
- The Youth Impact Operations for the ‘Albany Changemakers Initiative’ – an initiative to empower young people to develop leadership, entrepreneurial and life skills through youth-led community projects, workshops and mentorship;
- Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community, La Grange, for ‘Fan the Flames of Change’ – a program that will see young people working together to strengthen their resilience through leadership opportunities, cultural, sporting and art-based activities, which will culminate in a youth festival;
- Goldfields Community Legal Centre’s ‘Goldfields Youth Employment Program’ -empowering culturally and linguistically diverse young people by providing comprehensive work-readiness training, promoting regional job opportunities, and facilitating successful employment and settlement in the Goldfields region;
- Carers Association of Western Australia for its Youth Advisory Group – a group that empowers young carers (aged 16-25) to influence programs through advocacy and training, ensuring their voices shape initiatives that enhance support and resources for young carers; and
- Team Connect WA’s ‘Leadership, Life Skills and Connection through Cricket Project’ – an initiative that supports teenage girls to develop leadership, coaching and life skills by running after-school sessions for primary school students and helping younger girls experience the fun of cricket.
The annual Youth Engagement Grants Program provides funding of up to $5,000 for short-term, one-off activities or initiatives, and up to $10,000 for community-wide initiatives.
The Cook Labor Government is also supporting 32 organisations and local governments with $75,000 in grants to host events and activities as part of Youth Week WA, held from 10 to 17 April 2025.
