The Palaszczuk Government is investing $25 million from the Growth Acceleration Fund (GAF) to accelerate housing development across South East Queensland.
Three infrastructure projects in Joyner and Elimbah East in Moreton Bay as well as Southern Redland Bay will help to unlock a total of around 3700 new housing lots.
The Moreton Bay suburb of Joyner will benefit from a $6.74 million investment in essential new sewerage infrastructure
The project includes a pump station and rising mains linked by approximately 1.7 kilometres of pipework in the Oxford Road area.
The infrastructure will enable approximately 1800 lots to be opened up for development in Joyner, including 340 initially
KDL Property Group will deliver the works which are expected to create 80 construction jobs and 12 ongoing operational jobs.
$10 million from the GAF will support an upgrade for the intersection of Pumicestone and Clinker Roads in Elimbah East, also in Moreton Bay.
The works will include significant widening and capacity upgrades, traffic signals and turning lanes, median strips, lighting and a pedestrian path and cycle lane.
They will accelerate the development of approximately 1160 lots in nearby housing estates as well as open-up many years of future industrial land supply for Moreton Bay.
The project is also the essential first phase of a planned future upgrade to the nearby M1 interchange.
Goldfields Group will deliver the works which are expected to create eight additional construction jobs over approximately the next year.
In Southern Redland Bay, $6.53 million will support major works at the intersection of Kidd Street and Serpentine Creek Road, upgrading it to a four-lane intersection with turning lanes and traffic signals.
The project is expected to accelerate the development of approximately 740 lots in nearby housing estates.
Villawood Properties will deliver the works which are expected to create 150 construction jobs over two years.
The GAF is the Palaszczuk Government’s $50 million fund aimed at unlocking new housing.
Another $15 million from GAF has already been allocated, in 2022, for infrastructure needed for the future city of Caboolture West.
