COASTAL and inland regional communities will benefit from 25 new tiny homes at six Reflections Holiday Park sites, supported by the NSW Government.
Minister for Lands and Water, Kevin Anderson, said the $4,851,000 investment, funded by a $28 million government loan to Reflections, was a boost for local communities and the tourism industry.
“It has been a challenging period for communities and small businesses with COVID and floods impacting tourism,” Mr Anderson said.
“This investment by Reflections in 25 tiny homes will encourage more visits to regional areas and more spending to support jobs both during and after construction.”
Construction has finished on three out of the four tiny homes being built at Jimmys Beach. Construction will be completed in May and June at Shaws Bay (four homes); Lake Keepit (four homes), Scotts Head (a new precinct of seven homes); Terrace Reserve (three homes), and Bermagui (four homes).
Reflections Holiday Parks CEO Nick Baker said the tiny homes would allow an average of 4500 more visitors per year to enjoy nature-based holidays at spectacular natural sites, injecting an estimated $600,000 into the regional areas.
“As the first holiday park group in Australia to be certified as a social enterprise, we are not your average holiday park group,” Mr Baker said.
“All of our profits are reinvested into parks in the Reflections group, sharing the economic benefit across the state. This means that money spent at our parks goes directly back into the facilities, community and the surrounding reserves.”
Measuring 9.3 metres long and 2.8m wide, the tiny homes are designed to minimise their environmental impact, including the use of recycled hardwood timber and plywood. While their footprint is small, they have all the mod cons (dishwasher, microwave, gas cooktop, full-size fridge), large decks and natural outlooks that provide for a spacious feel and a close-to-nature experience.
Reflections is a profit-for purpose organisation and caretaker of 37 holiday parks and 43 reserves on Crown Land in NSW.
