A man has been charged – and ‘Ice’ with an estimated potential street value of $30 million seized – after he was stopped by Highway Patrol officers at Dubbo yesterday.
Officers attached to North West Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting patrols of the Golden Highway about 3.30pm yesterday (Saturday 16 November 2024), when they stopped an SUV due to the manner of driving.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, was subjected to roadside testing which returned an alleged positive reading to methylamphetamine.
When the vehicle was searched, police located and seized more than $2600 cash and about 30kg of methylamphetamine (ICE), which has an estimated potential street value of $30 million.
The man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he allegedly refused a secondary testing.
He has been charged with supply prohibited drug over or equal to large commercial quantity, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime under or equal to $5000 and refuse or fail to provide oral fluid sample.
The Bondi man has been refused bail to appear before Dubbo Local Court today (Sunday 17 November 2024).
