Yarra has awarded more than $410K worth of quick-response funding to 106 local small businesses, providing support to our business community as they face the significant challenges caused by COVID-19.
From fashion, plumbing, optometry and dentistry, to cafes, distilleries and bars, COVID-19 Local Business and Precinct Support Fund Grants have been welcomed by a broad range of local businesses.
This financial assistance is supporting small businesses in Yarra to:
- transition to working from home
- set up or expand online trading
- improve shopfronts
- assist in business planning and marketing
- provide vital training.
Clothing label Spacebound is using its grant to promote the business, while also promoting and supporting other local creatives.
This local business has a retail store in Collingwood, which is also used to hold exhibitions, launches and events for other creatives in the local community.
Spacebound founder Joshua Space says his concept for the store has always been to “support those who support us”.
“We are planning to use the Yarra funding to run some online campaigns focussed around local creatives and businesses, and our products,” he said.
“We work closely with a number of local business in Collingwood for garment printing, finishing, and even web and marketing.”
“I guess the goal for us is to promote our business, while also promoting and supporting other local creatives as well.”
In total we have distributed $410,861 from our Local Business and Precinct Support Fund to provide this much-needed support for small businesses in Yarra. These grants form part of our $7.46 million
