Geelong Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged a man following an evade in an allegedly stolen truck yesterday.
Police followed the white truck through the Thompson, Newcomb, Leopold and Moolap areas, where the driver allegedly entered the wrong side of the road multiple times.
The vehicle allegedly evaded police when they tried to intercept it on Barwon Heads Road in Thompson.
The driver allegedly continued driving dangerously before stop sticks were successfully deployed twice by police on both Boundary Road in Newcomb and Port Arlington Road.
A 28-year-old Mount Martha man has been charged with 43 offences:
– Theft of motor vehicle
– Unlicensed driving
– Criminal damage (x6)
– Conduct endangering life/persons (x11)
– Aggravated expose emergency worker to risk by driving (x8)
– Drive in a manner dangerous
– Possess drug of dependence
– Burglary
– Theft
– Exceed prescribed concentration of drug
He was remanded in custody to appear before the Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police believe the white truck almost hit a cyclist on Kensington Road, near the Bellarine Rail Trail in Leopold during the incident.
