Projects to revitalise Boronia will receive a kick-start with the announcement of $500,000 in funding from the Victorian Government.
Knox City Council advocated strongly for Boronia to be considered under the Victorian Government’s Neighbourhood Activity Centre Renewal Fund, ultimately succeeding in being selected as one of six activity centres across Melbourne to receive funding.
Knox Mayor, Cr Nicole Seymour said the funding would allow some short-term projects under Council’s Boronia Renewal Strategy to be fast-tracked.
“An enormous amount of work has already gone into developing a plan to refresh, renew and revitalise Boronia for the residents of today and into the future,” said Cr Seymour.
“A plan like this cannot be actioned without significant investment, resources, and time, and I am proud of the tireless work of Council in advocating to all levels of government and promoting the needs and potential of Boronia to make this possible.”
The Neighbourhood Renewal funding is designed to support council initiatives that improve the local area. Council will work in partnership with the Victorian Government and local partners to identify and progress appropriate projects over the next 12 months.
