Joint media release with the Hon Paul Toole MP
Seven agriculture processing businesses impacted by the February-March 2022 floods in New South Wales are getting a leg up to re-establish and diversify their operations, thanks to the Australian and NSW Governments’ Supply Chain Support Program.
Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Murray Watt, said the program would support the recovery of some of the state’s key Primary Industry businesses.
“This funding will support agricultural processors that sustained direct flood damage or supply chain disruptions to repair, rebuild and enhance their operations”, Minister Watt said.
“Through the program, we can help to strengthen the agricultural supply chain, boost our economy and build local workforces across flood impacted communities.”
“By supporting these businesses, we are ensuring that our supply chains are more resilient to future natural disasters.”
NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said helping these businesses to become more resilient and reducing the impact of future natural disasters is vital to keeping jobs and skills in regional areas.
“This support for our processors includes the replacement of damaged plant and machinery, business diversification or transport assistance to keep business moving.
“The businesses receiving funding under the Supply Chain Support Program will strengthen primary industries as they modernise their operations to reduce workforce disruptions and build industry sustainability,” Mr Toole said.
The Department of Regional NSW managed the assessment of all applications against published guidelines and assessment criteria utilising expertise from an independent assessment panel.
The seven businesses that will receive funding through the program are:
- Mara Global Foods – $250,000
- Richmond Dairies – $220,000
- Ballina Fishermen’s Cooperative Limited – $199,645
- Manildra Harwood Sugars – $2,000,000
- Hawkesbury River District Fishermen’s Cooperative Limited – $262,500
- Golden Grove Naturals – $615, 571
- Mountain Blue Farms – $1,952,393
The Supply Chain Support Program is co-funded by the Australian and NSW governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
