The McGowan Government, through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program, has awarded $599,920 in funding to 59 community organisations across regional Western Australia.
The Community Partnerships Program supports a range of important local organisations and initiatives that have long lasting benefits to remote and regional communities.
Since the program was revitalised in 2020, it has invested over $2 million to over 200 deserving organisations, demonstrating the McGowan Government’s strong commitment to regional WA.
Applications for the first round of the 2022/23 program were received from a broad range of community groups including sporting, arts and cultural, women’s groups and animal welfare organisations. Aboriginal Corporations, Chambers of Commerce, tourism organisations and local governments also submitted applications.
Successful applicants include the Shire of Halls Creek for the installation of a hoist for inclusive access to the town’s aquatic centre and the Nyunngaku Women’s Group for its Women’s Wellbeing Workshop series.
Other community groups such as the Munglinup Community Group, the Karratha District Junior Soccer Association and the Wyndham Youth Aboriginal Corporation will receive funds for equipment and facility upgrades.
This funding builds on the $1,048,472 awarded to 86 community organisations in 2021-22.
Applications for the second round of Horizon Power’s 2022-23 Community Partnerships Program will open in February 2023. For more information, visit:
As stated by Acting Energy Minister Tony Buti:
“The McGowan Government is committed to making positive and meaningful contributions to regional Western Australian communities by enhancing regional growth and vibrancy.
“The Community Partnerships Program is another great example of Horizon Power working alongside the communities it serves to deliver important community-led outcomes.”
