The winner of the 2023 Northern Territory AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award has been named as Business Strategist Eileen Breen, for her “SustainAbility” project to implement sustainable initiatives for regional and remote businesses.

The prestigious award, announced last night at an event hosted by Minister for Agribusiness and Fisheries, the Honourable Paul Kirby in Parliament House, celebrates the forward thinking, courageous leaders who come from industries that represent some of the remote areas of the Northern Territory.

Congratulations to the other finalists Nicole Brown and Simone Cameron for their work across the Territory’s regional communities.

With a passion for planning for a sustainable future, Eileen’s SustainAbility project supports rural, regional and remote businesses and organisations to develop sustainable initiatives and circular economy strategies, to build business resilience and profitability, while also contributing to positive impacts for local communities and the environment.

Eileen will receive a $15,000 grant from Westpac, which will be used to support her project going forward. As the NT winner, she will also complete a professional development course of her choosing and will go on to represent the Territory at the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ AgriFutures Awards which will be held in Canberra later this year.

These annual awards acknowledge the significant achievements of women from rural communities and industries by identifying, empowering and celebrating their forward thinking initiatives.

The Rural Women’s Award is proudly supported by the Territory Labor Government in conjunction with AgriFutures Australia and Westpac.
