Poets and bloggers will be on their way to Woodend for the Queen’s Birthday long weekend for events set to ignite creativity as part of the Woodend Winter Arts Festival Words and Ideas program.
And if you’ve got a book in you but want to know the real story on how to self-publish, the program has you covered too.
1. Lost your plot to help bring that story into order in a full day workshop suitable for those grappling with an idea for a fiction, short story or creative non-fiction (including memoir) work.
2. Simple affordable ways to self-publish will set you on a path to avoid being ripped off, with an author who’s been published traditionally as well as self-publishing.
3. Blogs and Beyond is a little bit professional development and a little bit personal development – and includes the chance to brainstorm ideas, challenge each other and work together so everyone finishes with a clear idea of the focus for your blog content – and a method to get those blog posts out into the blogosphere.
4. Poetry at the Pub is back with a free but very popular poetry slam event presented by the Chamber Poets ensuring local talent as well as some from further afield will be free to test their work in the warm environment upstairs at Woodend’s Vic Hotel. Bookings are essential for this event – which always reaches capacity well before the long weekend.
The Woodend Winter Arts Festival is held over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend 7 – 10 June, with free Fireworks on opening night (7 June) at Buffalo Stadium in Woodend. Full details of the Festival program, and ticket purchases are available at
