A great Saturday morning for the community as Bowral Memorial Hall re-opens its doors

A bright, sunny Saturday morning added to the joy for locals who turned out to take a guided tour or walkover of the newly refurbished Bowral Memorial Hall on the weekend.

Live performances by Moss Vale High School showcased the pitch-perfect acoustics and locals enjoyed a celebratory cupcake and cup of coffee in the courtyard.

“There was an atmosphere of real excitement as locals began arriving right on 9am to be first through the doors,” says Libby Bain from Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Tourism & Events Team. “Tours guided by our team members quickly booked out online and those who took part thoroughly enjoyed going behind the scenes, taking in the green room and back-of-stage facilities and learning a little more about the detail of the stunning concert hall fit-out.”

Around 300 people passed through the doors within three hours. Local Frances Simons said, “There’s been such anticipation around the big reveal of Bowral Memorial Hall. We hadn’t imagined we’d see such a remarkable transformation. It’s so exciting to see and we can’t wait to enjoy some of the concerts and performances this venue is bound to attract.”

Adam Stokheld of Highland FM generously volunteered his time to coordinate a series of live performances on the stage by local high schools. Details. The high quality of young musical talent to be found in Wingecarribee Shire showcased the excellent acoustics of the purpose-designed concert hall, to the delight of onlookers.

Moss Vale High School’s Vocal Rollers Ensemble C6 ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Group took to the stage from 10am until 12 noon, along with Year 12 student Oscar Dunn-Luck on classical piano.

Many enquiries were made about hiring the hall for a wide range of community uses, from performances to weddings and exhibitions. “People could see the possibilities for using the multi-purpose space and new facilities in new ways,” Libby said.
