Join Hawkesbury Library Service for a morning with author Karina Kilmore who will discuss her debut novel Where the Truth Lies on Monday, 9 March 2020 from 10:30am to midday.
Short listed for a Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, the same award that launched author Jane Harper’s career, Where the Truth Lies launches a new talent in crime writing. Where the Truth Lies is a fast-paced story set in present day against the backdrop of Melbourne’s inner-city streets and industrial waterfront.
The newsroom setting in the novel comes from Karina’s experience as a career journalist. The main character, Chrissie O’Brian, journalist, lands a senior job at Australia’s oldest newspaper, The Argus. After a dockworker who confided in her turns up dead, Chrissie becomes obsessed with unravelling the truth. When a gruesome threat lands on her desk, it’s clear someone is prepared to do anything to stop her. Chrissie soon suspects she has a big story on her hands as she investigates the cause of a wharfie’s death.
‘Kilmore holds an unflinching mirror up to Melbourne’s darker side in this gritty tale full of twists, packed with compelling characters. An exciting new voice in Australian crime fiction’ – Jane Harper, bestselling author of The Dry; Force of Nature; The Lost Man.
The author talk will commence at 10:30am with tea and coffee provided following the event, where copies of Karina’s books will be available for purchase and signing.
The talk is free and will be held at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor. Bookings are essential via or call 4560 4460.
