A unique playspace will soon be constructed in Apex Park in Wonthaggi, that will draw upon the historical significance of the former train station.
The playspace will include a timber train engine and carriages, a wooden trestle bridge, a slide and a swing and other nature-based play items.
This $80,000 project is part of the ongoing development of Bass Coast Shire Council’s Wonthaggi Activity Centre Plan and has been funded in its 2019/20 Capital Works Program.
The design work for this project is now complete, with construction expected to begin in the coming weeks. The new playspace will be completed in mid to late July 2020, subject to contractor availability and weather.
Council appreciates that these construction works may present an inconvenience and asks for patience during these works. Every effort will be made to minimise the disruptions to Park and rail trail users and nearby businesses, while implementing appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures.
Keep up to date with the project at
