  • Boat Harbour Beach will be revitalised under a re-elected majority Liberal Government as part of its 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s future.

As part of the $12 million Boat Harbour Beach Masterplan, the Liberals have committed $2.7 million, completing the funding requirements and giving the project the green light.

Premier Rockliff said the construction of a brand-new Surf Life Saving Club and Community Centre will be the centrepiece of the plan, complemented by major seawall work, addressing safety concerns at the beach for children and pedestrians and will improve car parking which is currently a major challenge.

“Boat Harbour is a stunning slice of paradise and is loved by all Tasmanians who have experienced this internationally acclaimed beach,” Premier Jeremy Rockliff said.

“Often included in the Top 10 lists of best beaches in Australia, Boat Harbour has so much more to offer but lacks the infrastructure to take it to the next level.

“The Tasmanian Liberals funding commitment is the final piece in the funding puzzle that will allow the Waratah-Wynyard Council to place the project out to tender.”

Liberal candidate for Braddon, Vonette Mead, said the Boat Harbour Beach Masterplan includes new civil works such as roads, parking, stormwater, sewer pump station relocation and ancillary works.

“All are projects that are long overdue for such a much-visited destination,” Mrs Mead said.

“This funding will provide employment opportunities for hundreds of tradies through the construction phase and ongoing jobs once the project is complete.”

Funding will also cover foreshore landscaping, including play spaces, furniture and support together with signage and EV charging stations.
