Acclaimed dancer Shaun Parker returns for exclusive performance

One of Australia’s most renowned dancer/ choreographers, Shaun Parker, returns to the stage at Griffith Regional Theatre on Wednesday, 23 October 2019 in one of only two exclusive performances of Blue Love.

Seamlessly blending intense physical theatre, comedy and dance, Blue Love is a fun, accessible, but beautifully executed work that takes the audience on a journey to discover the perfect relationship in a delightfully tongue-in-cheek performance that challenges the clichés of marriage, romance and suburbia.

The comical performance explores the multiple representations of love in high art and pop culture using pop songs, iconic films and timeless theatre moments.

Manager of Griffith Regional Theatre, Raina Savage, said, “This is a fabulous show and to add to the fun local singers can be part of a community choir which will join in the performance. Bek Jensen (from The Voice and the Welcome Choir), will direct our local musical talent in an empassioned rendition of Pat Benatar’s Love is a Battlefield during the show.”

The Artistic Director and Founder of internationally acclaimed dance company Shaun Parker & Company has come out of retirement and is training furiously to take centre stage in a rare performance of this much-loved and well-travelled production with his original dance partner and collaborator Jo Stone.

Shaun danced the tango in Baz Lurhmann’s Moulin Rouge, and there will be a tango in Blue Love too.

Shaun revealed, “Returning to the stage as I head into my 50s is slightly daunting, but I absolutely love performing Blue Love as the audience and I leave feeling fantastic. It is such a fun show and to be able to dance with the incredible Jo Stone again makes this tour even more special.”

“Local singers and song lovers who want to join the choir, will have a free workshop with Bek Jensen and a pre-show session with Shaun Parker himself to prepare for their performance,” Ms Savage said.

“Shaun Parker will also be offering a master class for local dance students on Monday, 21 October which will be an amazing opportunity for experienced dancers to work with this legendary choreographer.”
