The Allan Labor Government must today stand down the Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), Ms Kylie White.
As a consequence of the VCAA’s and Allan Labor Government’s incompetence, the 2024 VCE examination period has been thrown into disarray, with dozens of compromised exams putting at least 10,000 VCE students at a significant disadvantage through no fault of their own.
One month ago, issues with hidden text embedded within VCE practice examination papers were brought to the attention of the VCAA.
The failure of the VCAA to inform the public of this error, or take reasonable corrective measures, has left at least 22 examination papers compromised and undermined the integrity of this examination period.
This sheer incompetence is simply unacceptable, and the Allan Labor Government must stand down Ms Kylie White today.
Shadow Minister for Early Childhood and Education, Jess Wilson, said: “Every day we are seeing further examples of the Minister for Education and the VCAA’s shocking failures which has left this exam period utterly compromised.
“Students deserve better than to have years of hard work undermined by repeated incompetence under the Allan Labor Government.
“It’s clear the position of the CEO of the VCAA is untenable and she must resign or be dismissed.
“Only a truly independent investigation, as proposed by the Victorian Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s, will get to the bottom of what has gone wrong and restore community confidence in VCE assessments.”
