The ACMA has released its 2021-22 research program, which will examine a range of topics across the Australian media and communications landscape.
Research priorities include unsolicited communications, online gambling and private 5G networks. The program will also continue the annual series of interactive reports and research snapshots.
The ACMA conducts research to examine how current and future developments in communications and media will impact its regulatory role and provides data as an evidence base for decision-making.
In 2021-22, projects included in the program are:
- consumer research examining Australians’ views and experiences of unsolicited communications – phone calls, SMS and email
- an examination into the use of affiliate marketing in online gambling
- consumer research examining communications and media usage in Australia
- market studies looking at the deployment of private 5G networks and telecommunications network supply chains.
The ACMA’s research is publicly available and aims to provide an independent source of information for industry and the public about telecommunications, radiocommunications, broadcasting and relevant online services.
