Australian Catholic University has maintained its position at the top of the Australian tertiary sector and in the top 50 in the world for Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies, according to the 2023 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
Released overnight, the QS subject rankings place ACU at first in the nation and 34th worldwide for its theology discipline, for the second year in a row.
ACU also ranked highly in the following five QS subject areas for 2023: Nursing (=50); Sports-related subjects (ranked 51-100); Education (101-150); Psychology (ranked 201-250); as well as ranking for in Arts and Humanities (ranked 451-500).
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) Professor Abid Khan said that the demonstrable impact from ACU research, meant the university was better placed to develop deeper partnerships with people and organisations in Australia and around the world.
“ACU’s top 50 ranking in subjects like theology and nursing shows to our partners and future students that we are a global and national leader in the care economy,” said Professor Khan. “We strive to be known for research that is closely linked to industry, including education and sport science.”
In the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, ACU is already ranked in the top 50 for education and sport science as well as nursing.
Overall ACU sits in the top 300 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and among the top 10 Catholic institutions in the world.
