Add Your Organ Donor Card To MyGov App Wallet

Department of Health

People can now add a digital copy of their organ donor card to their myGov app wallet for a new and convenient way to store and access this important document.

Minister for Government Services and the NDIS the Hon Bill Shorten MP and Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care the Hon Ged Kearney MP welcomed this latest addition to the myGov app.

“The wallet in the myGov app is a secure and convenient way to keep selected government issued cards and documents in the one place,” Minister Shorten said.

“Registering to be an organ and tissue donor is an important decision and saves lives. People can now access their donor card and manage their donation preferences in just a few clicks, all within the myGov app.

“This work continues the expansion of the myGov app wallet to include additional government-issued cards and credentials.

“The myGov wallet will become increasingly important as we continue to explore new and secure ways for people to use and store digital government credentials in an ever-changing digital environment.”

Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care the Hon Ged Kearney MP encouraged more Australians to register as organ and tissue donors and add their donor card to the myGov app wallet.

“While 4 in 5 Australians say they support donation, only one in 3 (36%) are registered as an organ and tissue donor,” Assistant Minister Kearney said.

“When you register, you provide a clear indication to your family that you want to be a donor in the future.

“Once registered, it’s also important to tell your family you want to be a donor, as each year opportunities for transplants are missed because families aren’t sure what to do.

“For 1,800 Australians on the organ transplant waitlist and a further 14,000 people on dialysis for kidney failure, organ donation can be the difference between life and death.”

It’s quick and easy to register as an organ and tissue donor on the Australian Organ Donor Register. Use your Medicare online account through myGov or go to . It only takes a minute.
