Occasionally our brigades receive a callout where the pager message doesn’t give a great deal away.
Thankfully for members of Truganina Fire Brigade, a call just after 9am on Monday (4 June) to attend a community service emergency in Inverell Parkway, Tarneit wasn’t the cat-astrophe they were expecting.
It turned out that the job was the rescue a kitten trapped in the engine bay of a car.
The car’s owner suspected the kitten had been trapped under the bonnet since they left Altona Meadows – a fur-midable 14-kilometre trip.
Guided by the kitten’s meows, fireys were soon able to find and free the tiny stowaway.
The kitten wasn’t owned by the car’s driver, and given she had no collars or tags, crews had to surrender her to the Wyndham City Council.
If you are missing a kitten from the Altona Meadows area .
We think she’ll have no trouble finding a fur-ever home if she’s not claimed.
A truck and crew from Hoppers Crossing also attended the incident.
