Logan Hospital emergency department staff have welcomed a marked change in work conditions following a recent ACEM advocacy campaign calling for better patient outcomes in Queensland.

The College’s advocacy took form in a letter to Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles, discussions with key stakeholders including the Australian Medical Association, a series of media interviews and, eventually, .
These efforts have resulted in work conditions changing dramatically – from makeshift beds and patients being treated in corridors to empty hallways and patients in beds (see Before and After pictures below).
The College is committed to working with the Queensland Government to ensure that there is long term investment in Logan emergency department and hospital system and that these early gains can be sustained.
“I have repeatedly said ACEM will always support its members and trainees advocating for better patient care,” Dr Judkins said.
