A new After-Hours service for children and young people in Out of ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Care will be extended to ensure best practice and supportive responses outside of business hours.
Minister for Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the Tasmanian Government is developing the After-Hours Service as part of measures to improve the structures and processes of the Out of ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Care system.
“A core focus for the Tasmanian Government in the 2024-25 Budget is the development of a new extended After-Hours service statewide,” Minister Jaensch said.
“We have invested $3.1 million over four years to develop the service, which will increase and improve responses beyond the current emergency only capabilities.
“The After-Hours service is designed to provide child centred responses, by supporting children and young people with issues when they arise.
“This may include practical support, problem solving or more complex responses to high-risk events such as mental health crises, medical events, and increasing safety for children and young people.”
The Tasmanian Government, under its 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, will continue to develop stronger communities so that Tasmania is the best place to live, work and raise a family.
