On Wednesday 6 April we launched our Positive ageing embraces the idea of being active, connected, valued and respected as we grow older in our community.
The Positive Ageing Framework and Action Plan 2021–2025 aims to build on the foundational success Maroondah established in the Active and Healthy Ageing Initiative 2015–2020, and addresses the current challenges faced by an ageing population.
There are six key priority areas that will guide and assist Council to continue to make Maroondah a vibrant and renowned age-friendly city in which to live, work and play over the next five years. These are social connections; community; quality of life; safety and security; health and wellbeing; and respect.
Councillor Mike Symon, Mayor of Maroondah, launched the Framework during a walking sports event at Maroondah Nets.
“Maroondah is a fabulous place to live, and this Framework will ensure that everybody can fulfil their potential, regardless of age, and actively participate in all aspects of community life.
“We are lucky as a municipality to have such a vibrant sporting, arts and social community, with many council-run programs and free activities and events to be involved in,” Cr Symon said.
