For the second time since 2019, Victoria University (VU) has been awarded an (EOCGE) citation from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
The coveted citation, achieved by only 120 organisations in Australia this year, promotes and encourages the commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.
The 2022 WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation recognises VU’s dedication to making the workplace equal by embedding strategic actions, which, according to the report, “sets them apart from other companies”.
VU successfully met a rigorous checklist, which covered leadership, learning and development, gender remuneration gaps, flexible working and other initiatives to support family responsibilities, employee consultation, preventing sex-based harassment and discrimination, and targets for improving gender equality outcomes.
“I am absolutely delighted that we continue to progress gender equality at Victoria University. We have done an incredible amount of work and continue to pursue improvements all the time,”said Vice-Chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker.
The Agency applauded VU and other EOCGE citation holders for their commitment to achieving gender equality “despite the upheaval and disruption caused by the impacts of the two-year COVID-19 pandemic”.
VU and other citation holders are change-makers who are working to close their pay gaps faster, have a higher proportion of women in management, a stronger pipeline of women moving into senior management, a higher representation of women on their boards and a higher proportion of female employees working full time than other employers in the WGEA dataset.
“After passing our evidence-based benchmarking evaluations, our EOCGE citation holders are officially recognised as some of the best employers in Australia who are committed and dedicated to action in achieving gender equality,” said WGEA Director, Mary Wooldridge.
