An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to an aggravated assault upon a youth in Tennant Creek yesterday.
Around 3am a 16-year-old female was walking along Peko Road when she sat down on the footpath and was approached by a man known to her.
It is alleged the man kicked her to the head rendering her unconscious, before dragging her along the ground and striking her to the head and face with a rock.
CCTV operators alerted Tennant Creek Police to the assault, and the man fled the scene on their arrival.
The girl was transported to the Tennant Creek Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Tennant Creek Police located and arrested the man just after 8am that day.
He has been charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and has been remanded in custody to appear before the Tennant Creek Local Court on August 1.
