Ahpra and the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Boards announced the 2024-25 registration fee increase on Wednesday. The Medical Board has set the registration fee for medical practitioners at $1027, an increase of $32 or 3.2 per cent. The fee in New South Wales will be $956.
stated that they have deliberately kept all fee increases at or below inflation.
, with AMA President Professor Steve Robson writing to all state and territory health ministers challenging them to justify the magnitude of the increase. Prof Robson made it clear that the medical profession should not be subsidising the health system reforms health ministers have tasked Ahpra with, such as the cosmetic surgeon reforms and the Kruk Review.
We are continuing to advocate alongside AMA Victoria for a more equitable registration fee regime for doctors on parental leave, with AMA President-elect Dr Danielle McMullen and AMA Victoria President Dr Jill Tomlinson meeting with Ahpra earlier this week to discuss options for change.
The annual renewal fee is effective from 24 July 2024 and for most practitioners covers the registration period of 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025. Don’t forget to renew your registration by 30 September. .
