The NSW Head of the peak employer association Ai Group, Helen Waldron, has congratulated Labor leader Chris Minns on his party’s victory in yesterday’s state poll.
“The incoming Labor Premier and his team developed positive and constructive relations with business during their time in opposition and we look forward to engaging with the Premier and his incoming Ministry as they work to deliver their electoral agenda,” Ms Waldron said.
“Premier-elect Minns takes on the leadership of NSW at a critical period where the gains of the post-COVID recovery are under threat from rising inflation, geo-political and demographic pressures and the challenge of the transition to net zero emissions.
“Developing the skills the state needs to grow and prosper, addressing barriers to business growth, boosting lagging productivity and setting out clear and coherent directions for the energy sector and other areas of activity with high emissions should be at the top of the new Premier’s to-do list. A great deal of work and consultation will be needed to ensure NSW retains its place as the country’s most diverse and dynamic economy.
“Outgoing Premier Dominic Perrottet leaves the state and good shape and we thank Mr Perrottet and his team for their engagement with Ai Group during their time in office. As Treasurer and then Premier Mr Perrottet provided the leadership that helped the community and businesses to address the challenges of the COVID pandemic. We wish him and his family well for the future,” Ms Waldron said.
