A well-coordinated emergency service response helped successfully rescue a teenage girl in Walkerville South yesterday afternoon.
Officers have been told a group of 18 friends and acquaintances entered waters near the Walkerville South boat ramp before 4pm on 17 December.
Two 17-year-old girls and a 16-year-old girl were on inflatable paddleboards and were blown offshore.
Other members of the group attempted to rescue the girls but were unsuccessful and a number of calls to Triple Zero (000) were made.
Police were quickly on scene, the Rescue Coordination Centre was notified and the Police Air Wing were deployed.
The 17-year-olds managed to make their way back to shore but the chopper was used to retrieve the 16-year-old.
She was successfully winched onboard and returned to shore.
Fortunately no one was injured.
