Airservices Australia and AirNav Ireland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate and share expertise in air navigation services. The partnership aims to enhance outcomes for the aviation sectors in both countries by leveraging shared knowledge and best practices.
Under the MOU, Airservices and AirNav will collaborate across a range of areas, including:
- Sharing of recruitment and training expertise, materials and best practices
- Project delivery of new air traffic management systems, with a focus on sharing safety and procedural innovations
- Research and development initiatives
- Exploration of joint opportunities in the provision of communications in oceanic airspace
- Sharing information on airspace changes, noise management, and community engagement processes
- Collaborate on the facilitation of uncrewed services in shared airspace
- Potential introduction of a staff exchange program.
Airservices Australia Interim Chief Executive Officer Rob Sharp said industry collaboration was essential to address the evolving challenges of airspace navigation.
“This is a time of rapid aviation transformation as new technologies emerge, and we prepare for the future requirements of air traffic management. This evolution will require us to accommodate more and new types of aircraft,” Mr Sharp said.
“The challenges we are facing are not unique to Australia, and by working with our international peers we can share knowledge that strengthens both local and international outcomes while fostering innovation.
“This MOU will give us access to more insights on various issues relating to the complexities of aircraft traffic management, ranging from the technical aspects through to how to train and sustain our workforce, and changing community expectations regarding aircraft noise management.”
