Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the , is featured in a new documentary about Libya produced by Al Jazeera English.
According to the producers, “The Lust for Libya: How a Nation was Torn Apart” charts the 42-year rule of Muammar Gaddafi, uncovering seeds of discontent, both at home and in his relations internationally, sewn across his turbulent reign.
This past spring a crew from Al Jazeera English came to UNE’s Biddeford Campus and interviewed Ahmida for three hours.
Ahmida is working on his third book about Libya, the country where he grew up.
He has previously released, The Making of Modern Libya: State Formation, Colonialization; and Resistance and Forgotten Voices: Power and Agency in Colonial and Postcolonial Libya.
