All you want for Christmas in city

Thousands of magical lights are set to illuminate Perth this month when the City launches its much-anticipated Christmas Lights Trail on 15 November, just in time to welcome the festive season.

Bigger and brighter than ever, this year the expanded will boast 27 dazzling installations along two routes in Northbridge and the Perth CBD, as well as the Lotterywest trail; a new mini trail in East Perth.

A gingerbread house at Perth Cultural Centre, hot air balloon in Stirling Gardens and a musical lights tunnel in Yagan Square are just some of the mesmerising new additions sure to enchant passers-by as they make their journey through the city in the lead up to Christmas.

Adding Christmas cheer to the trail, visitors will be delighted by roving entertainers including stilt walkers and musical performers in the Hay and Murray Street Malls, Perth Cultural Centre, Forrest Chase, Raine Square and Kings Square every Friday and Saturday night from 6pm to 9pm.

City goers celebrating the launch on 15 November can also enjoy a range of festive activities and free entertainment including the return of the ever-popular Twilight Hawkers Market to Forrest Place, colourful Christmas projections and a special visit from Santa with his sleigh in the Stirling Gardens.

In addition to entertainment-filled evenings, day time activities will make weekends a magical experience in the city. Christmas shoppers can enjoy bag-minding and gift-wrapping services, relaxing in comfy chairs and a range of entertainment at the Summer Backyard in Forrest Place.

“This year’s Christmas Lights Trail promises to the best yet, with many thousands of people expected to flood Perth’s CBD,” Mr McGowan said
