Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Allison Lee as its new General Manager of Communications.
Ms Lee brings a wealth of experience to her MLA, having led communication teams across the private and public sectors. Her experience spans across a range of industries and communication disciplines including media and issues management, marketing communications, sponsorship, digital communications, people communications, parliamentary and government services.
She founded and ran communications agency, IMPACT Communications, for 15 years, where she worked with FMCG companies including Nestle, Cerebos, and Twinings. Ms Lee also represented a variety of industry groups for Horticulture Innovation Australia (then Horticulture Australia) to promote fresh fruit and turf.
Ms Lee joins MLA from the NSW Government, where she managed Australian and international marketing communications for Destination NSW which included promoting Sydney, regional New South Wales and Vivid Sydney to more than ten international markets.
Ms Lee also worked in the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment on the water portfolio where she led campaigns to communicate changes to water sharing plans, drought mitigation, and bushfire relief to regional communities.
Most recently Ms Lee was the Executive Director of Public Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Transport for NSW where she delivered major bus and rail reforms, managed road safety communications including its $25M marketing and sponsorship portfolio, and major events such as the 90th Anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the launch of the new Sydney Metro lines.
As the General Manager of Communications, Ms Lee will provide strategic direction and leadership to develop and implement stakeholder engagement and communication strategies that build awareness and adoption of MLA activities and programs.
Managing Director of MLA, Michael Crowley, welcomed Ms Lee to MLA and said that she would bring a wealth of experience to her new role.
“Allison has led communication teams across the private and public sectors bringing broad and deep extensive executive level experience to MLA, and we are thrilled that she will join MLA to lead our communications team as we approach a new five-year strategic plan,” Mr Crowley said.
“Her experience spans across a range of industries and communication disciplines including media and issues management, marketing communications, digital communications, parliamentary and government services will elevate our communications capability and drive significant benefits to producer, stakeholder, community, customer and consumers.
“We are looking forward to hitting the ground running with Allison as we continue to develop our five-year strategic plan, ensure we are well positioned to focus our communications portfolio and execute the strategy for the benefit of the industry.”
Ms Lee commences her role on Monday 28 October 2024. She will be based in MLA’s North Sydney office.
