2022 Hospital Health Check

AMA (NSW) DITC Co-Chair, Dr Jacqueline Ho, spoke about the upcoming 2022 Hospital Health Check survey. Dr Ho noted that there was a very good response to the HHC last year, and there are still ongoing meetings with LHDs regarding feedback from the survey around improving workplace facilities.

The DITC encourages all members to participate in this year’s survey, as the more doctors-in-training who participate the stronger our advocacy will be. You can access the 2022 Hospital Health Check survey here.

Regional and Rural Health Issues

AMA (NSW) DITC discussed the current challenges confronting those working in rural, regional and remote NSW. Workforce shortages was noted as the number one challenge, with other contributing factors including:

  • Remuneration and incentives,
  • Limited resources (particularly accommodation),
  • Lack of continuity of training and training opportunities, and
  • Lack of general support on arrival in a new location.

The DITC discussed solutions to ensure a viable workforce for rural, regional and remote NSW and future advocacy on this issue.

Update from Hospital Representatives

The overall feedback provided by our Hospital Representatives’ was positive. DITC heard of a number of initiatives being trialled in hospitals as well as some continuing challenges in the areas of rostering, workforce shortages, accessing leave and workplace culture. The DITC will be working on tackling these issues on behalf of DITs in NSW.

Our next DITC meeting will be held on Thursday 23 June 2022 at 7pm, via Zoom.
